Ghost ♥ you
Leaving tomorrow at o'dark thirty for home, then the beach. ♫♪ I'm so happy; it's only supposed to rain two days while we're there.

One of my professor finally gave us feedback on our work. He's pretty chill and always says, "Good job guys," but it's nice to have individual feedback on specific assignments rather than one blanket email to the whole class. However, it's a bit of a problem when he uses acronyms I don't understand. Some of which include: DE, BPJ, KA, R & D, and HOTs. He only explained R & D (Ripoff and duplicate) and the last acronym was addressed to me. It took me a good 15 minutes to come up with: Higher Order Thinking Skills. I'm pretty sure that's it, but I might be wrong!

It's like a bad puzzle and I feel slightly guilty about not knowing what they stand for.

On a good note, he's bringing us cookies tonight. I'm going to try to stop at the bakery on my way home tomorrow to get some sourdough bread for the beach.

Finally got to watch NCIS last night. I was fairly impressed. I just hope DiNozzo still calls McGee 'Probie' and not Ziva.

It's supposed to snow (flurries) on Saturday and Sunday! It still amazes me after all these years to have snow (even flurries) before Halloween. At home, we usually get snow/ice in February/March, and it's only 1.5 hours away...Yeah yeah, mountain elevation, I know, but still.

All the stupid things

♫♪
So Tuesday we had to visit VC Elementary school. Going places is not that easy when you're on a mountain, especially if you're totally unaware of your environment. Nevertheless, I printed out my google map with gusto, and Kt and I set out at 5 for class.

After taking a rather lovely scenic tour through the countryside, we started to get anxious. We had seen one school bus stop ahead sign a ways back, but not the actual sign nor any school.

It was then in my brilliance that I realized that I had printed a map for VC, the county, and not specifically VC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

Me: Um, is VC a town?
Kt: Yes.....
Me:....
Kt:...

*Announcer voice* My name is Ghosty, and I may have graduated with a 3.9 GPA, but I am NOT...smarter than a 5th grader.

I'm just glad I realized what I had done before we ended up in Oklahoma. We stopped and got directions from a house. Mountain people are generally very friendly, and we were happy to find this lady was NOT an exception. =D

So we ended up being about 15 minutes late to class, but the teacher hadn't even begin to pass out papers. We made up for it, though, at the end of class. Everyone was supposed to have their presentations ready to present, but Kt and I were the only ones prepared. Their excuse? They thought we were going back to campus after the guest speaker talked to us. Well, so did I, but it shouldn't matter where you present as long as you have computer access, right? Makes me wonder if they are going to have us go to the campus library or something.

Anyway, the prof. made a lot of them mad by saying, "Well, your presentations should have all been done last week". WTF, no. Only two groups volunteered to go last time, everyone else was supposed to be done this week! It says so on the syllabus, but whatever...

Kt and I presented and since the prof. didn't have anything else planned and no one else was going to present, we took our sweet time. Our 20 minute time limit? Left in the dust. An hour later, we wrapped up the activity. Bwhaha. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, though.

Food for thought

Interesting..
What a lovely weekend~

Parents came up today and took me out to eat. ♥ The restaurant's daily special was half off appetizers, so we got Artichoke dip. I didn't realize it wasn't SPINACH artichoke dip until it came to the table. But it was so good, I didn't mind that it didn't have spinach. You learn something new everyday, I guess, like...artichoke isn't that bad smothered in cheese and spicy food. Mom and I split a pesto-chicken pizza. Mmmmm, best. stuff. ever. Not the best pizza I've ever had, but one of the best as far as ingredients/toppings go. If that makes any sense.

Dad put up plastic around all the windows. Now the heat won't rise and escape right out the window. I swear, they place heaters in the weirdest spots.

Stayed up Friday night and talked to Sheena until 1 in the morning. *____* Nurgh, I'm getting so horrible about staying up late, but it was worth it.

I've about half of my homework done. Unfortunately, I did the half that wasn't due next week. So I've got the stuff that's due Tuesday/Wednesday left. Oy, priorities.

I'm excited for TBBT Monday~ The promo looks funny, better than last week's episode.

Tuesday we have to go to an elementary school for class. That poor librarian, having to stay from 5:30 until whenever after school just to talk to us....

Wednesday: group meeting. Then a week from Thursday, FALL BREAK. =D Oh YEAH. It's almost beach time for this ghost. I don't even care if it's too cold to swim in the ocean, I'll be walking in the sand every day.

Randomly, the All American Rejects and Taking back Sunday (?) are coming to campus. That's mildly interesting; usually we only get tribute bands.

Premiere Week

NCIS
Censorship presentation tonight. Kt wrote the paper, but couldn't find the files this morning to email me for review. Goodness, she is silly.

For the first time in more than a week, I've woken up to sunlight. It's been cloudy and drizzling rain for so long, I've forgotten what the sun looks like. Huzzah, sun!

I haven't heard anything from Zumi regarding the letter. Now I'm wondering if the letter even made it to Japan. I feel awful because I put the wrong zip code for the return address. I should have realized that campus would have its own independent zip code, but I didn't even think about it. Thus, I put campus zip code rather than the neighborhood zip code.

Sheena said she'd be on Friday, but I haven't heard from her. It's Wednesday. Sigh.

Now's the time on Sprockets where we dance.

I was weeding out my manga collection before I came back to college. I've got 5 manga that I don't want anymore. They're all in good condition, and frankly I don't care what anyone does to them. Feel free to try to exchange them at a bookstore, color it, cut it up, whatever.

Manga::

The Candiadate for Goddess (volume 1)
Boys Over Flowers (Volume 1)
Gravitation (volume 1)
Get Backers (Volume 1)
The Demon Ororon (Volume 1)

Anyone interested?
All I need is an address, so ask your friends, neighbors, dogs, etc.

First come first serve. I'll let you know when I put it in the mail.

And yes, it's free. =]

Duh
So, Kt just got a phone call from a home security company. They claim to have been in business for over 130 years.

Kt: "130 years? They barely had doorbells back then."

Blink

Not Pleased
Dear designers of the mannequin "Old Navy" (TM, registered mark, etc.) commercials:

While I do not purchase your products, I do find your commercials mildly entertaining. Commercials these days are usually boring and forgetable, so I applaud you for coming up with something fresh.

However, what idiot decided to make your closed captioning BLINK?! Do you realize that captions stay on the screen approx. 5 seconds or less? It's not too bad having to read the captions/listen to the words, AND pay attention to what is happening on screen, but making your captions blink throws off the whole game; It's impossible to read!

Did you even stop to think?!

Love,
Me

----------------------------------------------------------

It's almost as if the thought process went like this:

Person 1: Soooo, what should we do to really attract viewers to our product?
Person 2: Let's make the captions blink!!!!!!!!11one
Person 1: But you know, people talk really fast, so people have to read fast.
Person: 2: Oh. Hey, let's make them blink FAST!
Person 1: Sounds good.

Viewer: *Dies of blink poisoning and apathy*

This is posted all over the sheldon_penny LJ, but I think this one part is just adorable::

(From the interview with Bill Prady at Comic-con)

So, do you feel that if the character of Leonard was not there that everybody else would not be able to tolerate him?

Absolutely, one hundred percent. Remember, Penny asks Raj and Wolowitz how they came to be friends with Sheldon and they say were friends with Leonard and he sort of came along. We know that Leonard moved in and answered a roommate ad, but absolutely if Leonard weren't there to love Sheldon, which he clearly does.

Even as friendship-love, it's still awesome.

Went on vacation.

Crap I got. )

A classmate's mom passed away while I was gone.

Here's a newsflash: Laying (lying?) in the tanning booth causes skin cancer.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I mean, seriously? Did you not know that?! And you did it anyway?

It's sad...so sad...I feel so bad for the family...It's just all so sudden...and yet...not. You just don't get prepared for that. Jennifer was going to get married soon, so that her mom could at least see that...but no...
